Traffic warning as Heroines Underpass power pole project gains speed

Srisoonthorn Municipality has issued a traffic advisory for motorists to avoid the southbound lanes along Thepkrasattri Road from Thai Watsadu to the Tha Reua Shrine due to the relocation of power poles in preparation for the construction of the Heroines Underpass.

Roadwork Schedule and Traffic Impact

The roadwork will commence on Thursday, August 1, and will continue daily from 9 AM to 4 PM through Monday, August 5. This was confirmed in an announcement made earlier today (July 29), with Thalang Traffic Police echoing the warning.

"The Thalang Electricity Authority has scheduled the relocation of electric poles on the inbound side of Thepkrasattri Road, between Thai Watsadu and Tha Ruea Shrine. This operation will impact traffic flow, leaving only one inbound lane available," the announcement explained.

Lane Reductions and Traffic Management

The southbound lanes along the affected section of Thepkrasattri Road will be reduced to one lane. Meanwhile, the northbound lanes will remain open with two lanes, with rubber cones demarcating a dedicated bus lane. Traffic police officers will be on-site to facilitate traffic flow and ensure safety.

Alternative Routes

Motorists heading southbound along Thepkrasattri Road are advised to use alternative routes, such as the Mueang Mai - Pa Khlok route or the shortcut to Cherng Talay. For those heading northbound, alternative routes include traveling via Kamala, Cherng Talay, the road past British International School, Phuket, or the route behind Wat Tha Ruea to Srisoonthorn Road.

Planning Ahead

"Drivers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these routes and plan their journeys accordingly from August 1-5, 2024," advised Srisoonthorn Municipality. The municipality also expressed appreciation for the public's cooperation during this period of roadwork.

"Thank you for your cooperation," the announcement concluded.

By planning ahead and utilizing alternative routes, motorists can help alleviate congestion and ensure smoother travel during this essential roadwork period.
