Human remains found washed ashore in Wichit

Authorities are working to identify a human skeleton that washed ashore near Bo Rae - Khao Khat Road in Wichit on July 28. The discovery was reported by Wichit Municipality, prompting Wichit Police Chief Pol Col Chatri Chukaew and Deputy Chief Pol Lt Col Natthi Phichitchainithimeth to investigate the scene at Laem Dinso on the northern shore of Chalong Bay.

Forensic doctors from Vachira Phuket Hospital joined the officers at the site. The skeleton comprised pelvic and upper leg bones, still clad in black underwear with "CK" printed on the front and "SPORT" on both sides. Forensic analysis indicated that the remains belonged to a male who had been deceased for at least eight weeks, though the exact age of the deceased could not be determined.

While no other human remains were found nearby, officers discovered a pair of men's shorts about 50 meters away. The shorts, equipped with a black leather belt, contained a brown leather wallet in the side pocket. The wallet held documents identifying a 28-year-old male named Muzakkir, a registered fisherman from Aceh Province, Indonesia. Also inside were a fisherman’s insurance card and two ATM cards.

Aceh Province is located at the northern tip of the Indonesian island Sumatra, roughly 300 kilometers from Phuket’s southern tip.

Police are investigating to determine if the bone fragments and the documents found in the shorts are connected. The identification process and further investigation continue as authorities seek to uncover more details about the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
