Leah Remini and Angelo Pagán Announce Amicable Split After 21 Years of Marriage

Leah Remini, known for her role in "The King of Queens," is ready for a new chapter in her life as she and her husband, Angelo Pagán, have announced their separation after nearly three decades together. The couple, who have been married for 21 years and together for 28, shared the news in a joint statement on August 29.

"After 28 years together and 21 years of marriage, we have decided to file for divorce," Leah and Angelo wrote in their heartfelt statement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). "This decision came after a lot of thought and care, and as hard as divorce is, we are approaching this with a positive outlook because we know it’s what’s best for us."

The couple, who share a 20-year-old daughter, Sofia, expressed sadness over the end of their marriage but emphasized the strength and respect they maintain for each other. They noted that their relationship has evolved over the years into something different but equally valuable. "We are proud of how we have worked through this together," they said.

Leah and Angelo also explained that they still cherish the bond they have, continuing to celebrate holidays together and enjoy family moments, despite moving forward separately in some aspects of their lives. "We’ve got some figuring out to do as we continue to move forward into our new normal—together still in many ways, and apart in some new ones," they added. "But here’s the thing: we’ve been best friends for so many years."

The former couple hopes their journey can inspire others to see that changes in relationships, whether they continue or end, are not failures. They shared, "To put it simply, we both changed, as people do, and we got used to playing roles that didn’t fit us anymore."

Leah and Angelo met in 1996 and married in a Las Vegas ceremony in 2003. Reflecting on their marriage, they said, "We think a marriage that lasted this long and created so many beautiful memories, especially raising our incredible daughter, is something to celebrate. From our perspective, this marriage was a huge success."

News of their split comes just a week after Leah’s longtime friend and "Second Act" co-star, Jennifer Lopez, filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, citing "irreconcilable differences." While the circumstances around both breakups differ, Leah and Angelo’s approach serves as a reminder that relationships can evolve and transform while still honoring the love and memories shared.
