FOOTAGE OF FOREIGN MAN RIDING MOTORBIKE ON KAMALA BEACH GOES VIRAL
There’s been more driving on Kamala Beach this week, (soon to be renamed the Kamala Race Track) with video of a foreign man riding a motorbike on the beach going viral.
Like the tourist who abandoned a rented Jeep on Kamala Beach, and the Thai man who drove his Toyota down to the water’s edge on the same beach, a third person has decided to get in on the action.
The Phuket Express reports that video footage of a foreign man, nationality unconfirmed, riding a motorbike on Kamala Beach was shared on social media yesterday, April 9. As these things do, it promptly went viral and quickly came to the attention of the local police force.
Somsak Thongkleang, chief of Kamala Police, has responded by ordering officers to place traffic cones at the entrance to the beach to prevent motorists and bike riders from driving onto the sand.
The authorities also plan to erect signs in Thai and a number of foreign languages, warning drivers against driving on the beach.
Somsak has suggested that some drivers may have seen jet-ski operators bringing pickup trucks onto the beach, in order to tow their jet-skis. From this, they may have believed it was permissible to drive on the beach. It isn’t.
It’s not known if the foreign biker in this instance has been identified or if he will face any charges.
