Phuket motorists disrupted by Heroines Underpass pole relocation

Motorists in Phuket should brace for further traffic disruptions near the Heroines Monument as Thalang Traffic Police continue with the relocation of power poles on Thepkrasattri Road. This essential work is part of the preparatory phase for the construction of the Heroines Underpass.

The first phase of the power pole relocation, which began on July 31, has now been completed. However, as of August 4, Thalang Traffic Police have announced a brief pause in the relocation efforts for today.

Relocation activities are set to resume from August 13-14, during which time the southbound lanes from the Heroines Monument to Tha Ruea Shrine will be impacted from 9am to 4pm. Following this, work will shift to the north side of the Heroines Monument, affecting the area up to the Thai Watsadu branch from August 15-17, with additional work planned for August 26-28.

Thalang Traffic Police urge motorists to avoid the area while the relocation is in progress and have provided maps outlining alternative routes to bypass the Heroines Monument roundabout.

In response to heavy traffic congestion on Saturday, Thalang Traffic Police temporarily designated one lane on the southbound side for northbound traffic, a measure expected to be used again as construction continues.

Motorists are encouraged to plan their routes carefully and stay informed with the latest traffic updates from Thalang Traffic Police, as reported by The Phuket News.

The accident, which damaged the van’s fuel tank and power pump, has left Kosol's vehicle inoperable and has impacted his livelihood. Despite reporting the incident to local authorities, Kosol has yet to receive assistance. This ongoing issue highlights a significant safety hazard, as similar incidents have caused multiple accidents.
