After Manchester United's dismal 3-0 loss to Liverpool, speculation about Erik ten Hag's future as manager has intensified. Despite this defeat leaving Manchester United in 14th place in the Premier League with just three points from their first three matches, the club's management has decided not to sack ten Hag. Instead, they have expressed their continued support for the Dutchman.

Erik ten Hag, who has been with Manchester United since 2022, was originally expected to leave his role at the end of the 2023/24 season. However, the club chose to extend his contract until 2026 following a surprise FA Cup final victory over Manchester City. Although Manchester United held discussions with Thomas Tuchel regarding the managerial position, they ultimately decided to stick with ten Hag.

According to sources, the club's board, including Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has invested over £175 million in new players this summer and is prepared to give ten Hag more time to improve the team's performance. New United CEO Omar Berrada and Sporting Director Dan Ashworth have also publicly backed ten Hag, emphasizing their commitment to working closely with him to achieve better results.

Ten Hag's tenure has been a rollercoaster, with two major trophies won since his arrival but also a disappointing eighth-place finish in the Premier League last season, coupled with a record 14 league defeats. The recent loss to Liverpool has only added to the mounting pressure on ten Hag, who remains defiant and focused on turning things around.

Manchester United's next fixture is against Southampton on September 14. A defeat at St Mary’s could further intensify rumors about ten Hag's future, but the club’s leadership remains confident in his ability to lead the team back to success.
