Liverpool and Manchester United are in the race to sign Lille's promising defender Leny Yoro, viewing the move as a unique opportunity rather than a core component of their transfer plans, The Athletic reports.

Yoro, widely regarded as one of the top emerging defensive talents, has attracted interest from several elite clubs. Alongside the Premier League giants, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are also keen on the 17-year-old.

Real Madrid, under Carlo Ancelotti, are currently leading the chase, maintaining close contact with Yoro’s representatives. However, this has not discouraged Liverpool and Manchester United, who are determined to make a bid for the young talent.

Both clubs view Yoro as an exceptional opportunity worth pursuing due to his potential, rather than a necessity within their summer transfer strategies. Should they miss out on Yoro, neither club plans to seek an alternative for this specific role.

Last season, Yoro made 32 appearances for Lille, contributing significantly to their Europa Conference League campaign.
