Chelsea's pursuit of Victor Osimhen ended in disappointment as the Nigerian striker chose to move to Galatasaray on a loan deal. Despite late efforts from Chelsea to sign Osimhen before the closure of the English transfer window, Napoli held onto their star forward. The Serie A club, however, remained eager to offload Osimhen, primarily due to his hefty £160,000-a-week wages, which were a financial strain.

Napoli has now reached an agreement with Turkish giants Galatasaray, who will cover Osimhen’s salary during his loan spell. According to Sky Italia, Osimhen has given the green light to the move and is set to travel to Turkey for a medical on Tuesday. The loan deal does not include an option for Galatasaray to buy the striker permanently, ensuring Osimhen's return to Napoli at the end of the season.

This move to Galatasaray comes despite interest from Saudi Arabia, which Osimhen turned down, not being keen on a move to the Middle East. His decision to join the Turkish club means he will not be available for a transfer in the January window, ruling out a potential mid-season move to Chelsea or a Saudi team.

Galatasaray is optimistic that Osimhen will significantly impact the pitch, providing the firepower they need for their campaign. Meanwhile, Chelsea will have to explore other options as their quest for a top striker continues.
