TWO PEOPLE KILLED ON PHUKET’S ROADS LAST NIGHT

A 5 year old Israeli girl died after falling from a tuk-tuk in Patong. The incident happened on Patong Road around 10.40pm. The girl, Nbaa Bahnasi from Jerusalem, was visiting Phuket with her family when the tuk-tuk they were travelling in, braked to avoid hitting a pedestrian. The sudden stop caused Nbaa to fall onto the road, where she was hit by a car traveling behind.

The tuk tuk driver was a 51 year old Bunyang Kaewaksorn.

The young girl was rushed to Patong Hospital but pronounced dead on arrival from injuries suffered by the incident.

Motorbike rider crushed by truck

Earlier, at 5:20pm., a 52 year old Thai man died in a motorbike incident on Bang Jo Road in Srisoonthorn. Thalang Police reported that a truck driver, delivering rocks to a nearby building site, was waiting at a traffic light. When the light turned green, the truck driver started moving and unknowingly drove over the motorbike rider, Thanakorn Kahong, who was waiting at the same traffic lights on his Honda motorbike.

A witness alerted the truck driver 15 metres down the road, and the truck driver stopped and waited for police to arrive. Thanakorn’s body was taken to Thalang Hospital. The truck driver was tested for alcohol and drugs, with results coming back negative.

Both incidents are under investigation.
