Manchester United's intention to offload Jadon Sancho might help Liverpool retain their star winger, Luis Diaz, despite interest from Barcelona.

Since joining Liverpool in January 2022 for $47.5 million, Diaz has made a significant impact with his flair and skill. However, with two years left on his contract, the Colombian winger has been linked with a move to Barcelona, fueled by his father's comments about Diaz's lifelong dream to play for the Spanish giants.

Luis Diaz Sr. revealed his son's strong allegiance to Barcelona, echoing the situation Liverpool faced with Philippe Coutinho. However, Barcelona's new coach, Hansi Flick, a fan of Sancho from his Borussia Dortmund days, may shift the Catalan club's focus.

Reports from Sport (via Manchester Evening News) suggest that Barcelona has been offered Sancho for $64 million. Struggling with financial constraints, Barcelona is considering a loan deal for Sancho instead of a permanent transfer. If this move materializes, it could diminish their interest in Diaz, at least for the coming season.

Sancho, whose stint at Manchester United has been underwhelming, spent last season on loan in Germany. With Erik ten Hag potentially getting an extended contract, Sancho might have to seek opportunities elsewhere, making a Barcelona loan move likely.

Despite his father's comments, Diaz has remained silent on the transfer rumors, which has unsettled Liverpool fans. Luis Diaz Sr. stated, "The truth is that I know very little about Barcelona at the moment. It is true that Luis is a loyal Barcelona fan and it would be his dream to go there. So far I would like to thank Porto and Liverpool for the way they welcomed him and received him."

Liverpool has previously lost South American stars like Coutinho, Javier Mascherano, and Luis Suarez to Barcelona. However, given Barcelona's current financial struggles and potential interest in Sancho, Liverpool might avoid losing Diaz this time.
