Manchester United's Summer Transfer Plans

Manchester United have kicked off their summer transfer activities by signing Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee. This marks the first signing under the INEOS era, with more additions expected to follow.

Man United's Transfer Targets

The Red Devils are currently negotiating with Bayern Munich for defender Matthijs de Ligt, who could be the next arrival at Old Trafford. In addition, Manchester United is keen on strengthening their left-back position due to the fitness issues of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

Fabrizio Romano's Transfer Insight

Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United have shortlisted Girona defender Miguel Gutierrez and Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez as potential targets to bolster their left-back options. Gutierrez, with 76 appearances for Girona, has become a fan favorite and played a crucial role in their Champions League qualification last season.

Romano shared his insights with GiveMeSport, stating, “He [Miguel Gutierrez] could be one of the options, he’s one of the players they’ve been monitoring. At the moment, I’m not aware of direct negotiations with Girona to be honest, but he could be one of the names."

Romano also mentioned Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, noting that while it’s not an easy deal, Kerkez remains a target: “Bournemouth want to keep the player for one more season and maybe sell him next summer for a higher value.”

Man United's Need for a Reliable Left-Back

There is no doubt that Manchester United need a reliable left-back, with current options Shaw and Malacia struggling with injuries. The left-back position has been problematic, with manager Erik ten Hag having to deploy right-back Diogo Dalot in that role at times last season.

Additional Defensive Reinforcements

Besides a new left-back, Manchester United is also expected to sign a new central defender this summer. The club owners are backing Erik ten Hag to improve upon their eighth-place finish in the Premier League last season.
