British man dies mysteriously at public park in Chiang Mai

A 34-year-old British man died mysteriously in a public park in the city center of Chiang Mai, the northern province. A suspicious empty foil packet was discovered near his body. Mueang Chiang Mai Police Station personnel were alerted to the death of a foreign male, later identified as 34-year-old Englishman Dax Baker, at 12.20pm yesterday, June 9. The body was discovered in a public park near Somphet Fresh Market in the city core.

Officers arrived on the scene and discovered Baker dead near a fountain in the public park. The foreigner was discovered to be living in a condo near the location. His body had no wounds or signs of physical attack.

Police discovered a suspicious empty foil package near Baker’s body. Such packets are commonly associated with drug use, prompting officers to gather it for further examination.

Baker’s body is presently undergoing an autopsy at Maharat Chiang Mai Hospital. There are suspicions that he might have overdosed on some form of drug at the scene, yet this remains unconfirmed pending the completion of the autopsy.

In a related report, a recent mysterious case occurred in Koh Sichang, an island in Chon Buri province, on May 31. In this case, the naked body of a Thai woman was found near Yai Tim Pier on the island after her solo trip there.

Police initially considered the case a suicide as the woman left a suicide note and messages to her family members. However, her younger brother was not convinced by the police’s conclusion. The brother suspected that his sister was murdered and demanded further investigation into the case.

According to Channel 8, police found four suspicious men who may have been involved in the woman’s death. The men previously worked at a construction site on the island and immediately moved out of the island after becoming the main suspects in the case.

Officers managed to arrest two of them on the mainland of Chon Buri province, and they arenow under questioning.
