Police in Phuket have arrested a pickup driver who allegedly threatened another driver with a gun while high on meth.

The incident happened on Monday afternoon, June 10, in the Wichit sub-district, just south of Phuket Town. Wichit Police were notified at around 2pm, according to a Phuket Express report. The pickup driver is accused of threatening the occupants of a trailer truck with a gun as both vehicles were travelling on Chao Fa West Road.

An unnamed woman, who was a passenger in the trailer truck, told officers that a white Toyota Revo truck nudged the truck as it was being driven by her husband. The white pickup then stopped in front of the couple’s truck and the driver threatened them with a gun, inviting the woman’s husband to step out of his vehicle. However, he refused and drove away.

The couple told police that the white truck had no licence plates. Despite this, Wichit Police were able to track it down and arrest the driver. At the time of his arrest at around 8.30pm that evening, he was carrying an unmodified blank gun and subsequently tested positive for methamphetamine.

His name and the location of his arrest have not been provided by the authorities.
