Sir Jim Ratcliffe is keen to make his presence felt at Manchester United

Manchester United are reportedly exploring a deal to sign talented prospect Chido Obi-Martin, whose contract with Arsenal recently expired. Although Arsenal is eager to retain their academy star, Obi-Martin appears ready for a new challenge.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is determined to make a significant impact at Old Trafford this summer, already securing two marquee signings.

The Red Devils have strengthened their attacking options with Joshua Zirkzee and improved their defense with Leny Yoro from Lille.

However, Manchester United is not only focused on enhancing their first-team squad. They are also committed to boosting their academy. The Athletic reports that discussions have begun with the teenage sensation Obi-Martin.

The young striker recently became available after declining a scholarship offer from his boyhood club, Arsenal. Despite the Gunners' efforts to retain the 16-year-old with what they considered a ‘fair offer,’ Obi-Martin decided to move on.

The Denmark youth international has reportedly traveled to Carrington for talks with Manchester United about a potential move. These discussions are at an early stage, and other top clubs are also interested in the forward. However, Manchester City is not among his suitors.

Obi-Martin joined Arsenal from Danish outfit KB in 2022 and quickly made an impact in North London. He scored an impressive 10 goals for Arsenal’s Under-16s in a 14-3 victory over Liverpool, catching the attention of top clubs across Europe.

He then progressed to the Under-18 level, continuing to excel. Obi-Martin netted four goals against Crystal Palace, followed by another four-goal haul against Fulham, and then scored five times against West Ham.

Although he couldn’t replicate his 10-goal performance against Norwich City, he still managed to score seven goals in that game.

Manchester United hopes that Erik ten Hag’s track record of giving young players first-team opportunities, as demonstrated by the rise of Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, will convince Obi-Martin to sign with the club this summer. Ratcliffe's focus on reducing the squad's average age further enhances United’s appeal.

By securing Obi-Martin, Manchester United aims to strengthen their future, aligning with Ratcliffe’s vision and Ten Hag’s philosophy of nurturing young talent.
