Man United Set to Land Noussair Mazraoui as West Ham United Advances for Wan-Bissaka

West Ham United is advancing in talks to sign Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to Sky Sports News. Reporter Melissa Reddy stated via the broadcaster’s transfer blog (30 July, 8:20pm) that negotiations between the clubs are progressing swiftly as Manchester United pursues a deal for Bayern Munich defender Noussair Mazraoui.

Wan-Bissaka, who joined Manchester United for £50 million from Crystal Palace in 2019, has spent five years at Old Trafford but has fallen out of favor. Despite initially impressing his new teammates, such as Scott McTominay, Wan-Bissaka has seen limited game time recently. McTominay once praised Wan-Bissaka's defensive skills, stating in July 2019 to the Manchester Evening News, "It’s absolutely ridiculous the way it looks like he’s diving in, but he’s so controlled in the way that he does it."

Reddy highlighted that “talks between West Ham and Manchester United over Aaron Wan-Bissaka are progressing at a rapid pace. When an agreement is reached there, it would finance a deal for Mazraoui.”

West Ham's interest in Wan-Bissaka aligns with their need for a new right-back following Ben Johnson's departure. Julen Lopetegui, West Ham’s manager, has been seeking an upgrade on Vladimir Coufal and, despite a failed attempt to sign Mazraoui, is now close to securing Wan-Bissaka. The defender made 30 appearances for Manchester United across all competitions last season, playing in both full-back positions to cover for Diogo Dalot.

With only 12 months left on his Old Trafford contract, Wan-Bissaka is set to be acquired by West Ham for a modest fee. The 26-year-old is entering his prime years and brings six years of Premier League experience along with Champions League exposure to the Hammers. This makes him a valuable addition to a West Ham side aiming to regain their spot in European competitions next season.

Meanwhile, Manchester United is set to use the funds from Wan-Bissaka's transfer to secure Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich. This move is seen as part of their strategic defensive reinforcements.

Lopetegui's efforts to build a strong, Premier League-proven defense at the London Stadium are evident, with Wan-Bissaka joining Max Kilman as the latest homegrown recruit. West Ham is arguably getting the better deal, as Mazraoui will need time to adapt to English football, whereas Wan-Bissaka is already well-versed in the demands of the Premier League.

In other news, Lopetegui is reportedly thrilled with Steidten’s transfer choices at West Ham United, as the club continues to strengthen its squad for the upcoming season.
