Summer storms for Phuket today and tomorrow
Phuket is predicting some rain over the next few days as residents and officials are eagerly awaiting the end of the long stretch of hot weather. Officials are also aware of the dwindling water supplies, an annual problem.

Some tropical ‘summer storms’ are building up in the east this afternoon and may drop some rain on the island this evening. The same pattern will repeat tomorrow with some clearer days forecast for Wednesday and Thursday this week before a return of possible rain on Friday and the weekend.
The wet season (aka. green season and low season) usually arrive in the weeks following Songkran but Phuket has gone through one of the longest stretches of high temperatures on record.
The ‘summer storms’ (random Cumulus Nimbus clouds which rise into the sky), are approaching from the east, suggesting that the real wet season is still a few weeks away, when the rain will start arriving from the west and south west directions. Here is the weather radar with the rain cells approaching Phuket from the east (2.30pm)…
Of course, as with everything weather related, the clouds may continue to progress towards Phuket or could dump all their rain before they cross the Phang Nga Bay. We will know this evening.
