A 15 year old minor remains in custody in Phuket after admitting to stabbing his uncle to death.
The incident took place in the northern district of Thalang on Monday, May 27. Thalang Police were notified of a stabbing at around 7pm at a property in the sub-district of Srisoontorn and arrived at the scene accompanied by paramedics.
They found the victim, named as 60 year old Somkiet Janhom, seriously injured with stab wounds to his chest. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was subsequently pronounced dead, according to a Phuket Express report.
The dead man’s family told officers he had been arguing with his nephew, named only as E, who had produced a knife and stabbed his uncle. E subsequently presented himself at Thalang police station in the company of his sister. He told police of frequent tension with his uncle and admitted to losing his temper.
The teenager has been charged with causing death by assault. According to the report, as he is a juvenile, he is likely to face a lesser charge.
