Patong Police Station arrested Russian Possessing Magic Mushrooms 

Patong Police Station arrested a 29-year-old Russian national in the area between Patong and Kamala, Patong Subdistrict, Kathu District, for possessing psilocybin mushrooms or magic mushrooms (also known in Thai as "cow dung mushrooms") without permission. 

Consuming these mushrooms can cause intoxication and euphoria, and they are classified as a Category 5 narcotic drug in Thailand. The suspect was detained on May 8 along with the evidence and sent to the investigating officers at Patong Police Station for further legal proceedings.

According to Thai law, anyone who possesses Category 5 narcotics for personal consumption shall be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years or a fine not exceeding 40,000 baht, or both.
