MISSING UK RETIREE FOUND IN PHUKET

The Daily Mail is reporting that the missing Scottish retiree in Phuket has been found. Whilst details are sketchy, at least he’s been located and is in contact with his family and embassy officials.

They report that the British retiree, 65 year old David Goldthorpe, from Edinburgh, who vanished during a solo vacation in Thailand last week, has been located.

Goldthorpe, who was anticipated to return home last Sunday after a three-week-long solitary trip to Thailand, failed to board his scheduled flight from Phuket to Doha, as disclosed by local authorities.

According to family members, they received peculiar messages followed by silence before Goldthorpe’s disappearance. He had embarked on his journey on April 12, spending a week at a hotel in Bangkok before moving on to a renowned resort in the region. His last contact was reported around 3:30 am (UK time) the previous Wednesday.

A spokesperson from the UK Foreign Office confirmed their assistance to a British national in Thailand and mentioned ongoing communication with the family.

Concerned relatives took to social media, appealing for information and expressing their distress over Goldthorpe’s absence. Despite sharing his photograph across various expatriate groups in Thailand, there were no leads until his discovery.

Goldthorpe’s daughter-in-law “Kate” mentioned his recent retirement and desire for a vacation. He was scheduled to board a flight to Doha on Sunday, subsequently connecting to Edinburgh on May 5, which he did not fulfill.

Efforts to locate David Goldthorpe were reinforced by both his family and local authorities until his whereabouts were ultimately confirmed.
