Four people have been injured in double road traffic incidents in the north of Phuket.

The Phuket Express reports that the first accident, which happened on Thepkasattri Road in Thalang, involved a truck and a minivan. The second involved another truck that crashed into an ambulance attending the first accident.

Thalang Police were notified shortly after 1am on Sunday, April 21, and arrived at the scene with rescue workers. They found a white truck and a passenger minivan that had sustained serious damage after colliding with a street light.

Parked nearby was an ambulance from Mission Hospital Phuket that was also damaged. It’s understood a patient in the ambulance was uninjured and was taken to Mission Hospital for medical treatment unrelated to the collision.

Four other people were injured in the double accidents, including the minivan driver and 3 people from the truck. All the injured were transferred to Mission Hospital and Thalang Hospital.

Sakchai Bunrat, the driver of the ambulance involved in the second accident, says he was taking a patient to Mission Hospital when the first accident happened. He parked and turned on his siren to assist.

While he was tending to the injured minivan passengers, he heard the screeching of brakes and then saw a truck hitting his ambulance before it then collided with the minivan. None of the ambulance crew were hurt in the collision.

It’s understood there is a sharp curve in the section of road where the accidents occurred and there was heavy rain at the time.
