A Phuket youth has been stabbed in a brawl that erupted during the early hours of yesterday morning, April 11.
The incident happened during a fight between 2 groups of youths near Saphan Hin, according to a Phuket News report. Police were called to the scene just before 4.15am and arrived to find a damaged Honda Wave motorbike in the road.
Scattered around the area were broken beer bottles and iron bars. Officers also found a bloodstained knife on the ground. Local youth gangs, mostly connected to various colleges, frequently use Saphin Hin as a battle ground.
The police say they were notified that a boy had been stabbed during a brawl between two groups. It’s understood the victim has been taken to Phuket Provincial Hospital.
According to officers, there was a group of between 10 and 15 young people sitting in the area when 4 others arrived on 2 motorbikes. It’s understood the four newly-arrived youths began taunting the larger group and a fight then ensued.
One of the four was injured in the fight, causing the group to flee and call the police. Officers say they are investigating the incident with the intention of pressing charges. They add that they plan to check CCTV footage of the area in an attempt to find the missing youths involved.
