BOYFRIEND ARRESTED AFTER BODY OF MISSING PHUKET WOMAN FOUND

Police have charged a man with murder after the body of a missing Phuket woman was found in the central province of Phetchaburi last Friday, June 7.

The victim, named as 22 year old Benjarat Choeijan, was a massage therapist from Phuket. It’s understood she met her suspected killer, named as 22 year old Anuwat Pimmat, on a dating app. Anuwat allegedly strangled his victim after she discovered he was married.

Anuwat told police he had been in a relationship with Benjarat since April. On Monday, June 3, he flew from Bangkok to Phuket and she picked him up at his hotel in a car. The couple then drove to the western province of Prachuap Khiri Khan to collect a pickup truck they planned to return to Benjarat’s former boyfriend in Bangkok.

While driving through the Sam Roi Yot district, Anuwat took a phone call and Benjarat realised he was talking to his wife. Anuwat says Benjarat then began shouting at him and slapped him across the face. He told police he then lost his temper and strangled her.

Investigating officers say Anuwat then drove around for a while trying to find somewhere to dump his victim’s body. It was found 4 days later, buried in weeds along the Phetkasem Highway in Khao Yoi district, Phetchaburi province.

Police arrested Anuwat in Prachuap Khiri Khan at around 10pm on Sunday, June 9.
