RUSSIAN WOMAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULT AFTER KICKING PREGNANT THAI WOMAN

And so it continues… Another foreigner is in trouble with the Thai authorities, this time a Russian woman who allegedly kicked an 8-month pregnant Thai woman.

Khaosod English reports that the incident took place on Koh Pha Ngan, on Monday afternoon, March 18.

The pregnant Thai woman, named only as 34 year old Mrs Sathika, was working in her shop when a Russian woman entered, carrying a coffee cup. The Russian had kept her shoes on, despite a sign on the door asking customers to remove their footwear before entering.

Mrs Sathika says she asked the woman to remove her shoes and told her she couldn’t bring drinks into the shop. However, she says the Russian ignored her. When the shop owner repeated her request, the Russian woman replied that her shoes weren’t dirty.

However, Mrs Sathika stood her ground and insisted again that the woman remove her shoes. At this point, the Russian woman allegedly kicked her twice on her right leg, before walking out.

The Thai woman was left with light scratches on her leg and subsequently reported the matter to the police. She also shared the story on social media, posting the Russian woman’s photo, which was a screenshot from the shop’s CCTV camera.

The authorities were able to identify the culprit, named only as 41 year old Ms Alena, and invited her in for questioning. Yesterday, March 19, the Russian woman met with Ms Sathika at the police station and apologised to the Thai woman.

Her victim accepted the apology but still insisted on pressing charges. Police have charged the Russian woman with assault.
