Inspection Highlights Progress

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra visited Kanchanaburi province on Monday, June 9, 2025, to review groundbreaking groundwater development efforts. Her first stop was the Royal Initiative Project at Ban Pak Chat Nong Bua in Lao Khwan district’s tambon Nong Fai, where she assessed ongoing work with the Department of Groundwater Resources, focusing on innovative tools and techniques shaping the region’s water future.

Ensuring Water Quality Standards

Tasting Confirms Safety for Residents

During the visit, Paetongtarn closely examined the water purification process, prioritizing groundwater quality checks before distribution to locals. She sampled the treated water, confirming its purity rivaled bottled water with no detectable odor, while villagers eagerly filled gallon containers, showcasing the project’s immediate impact on community well-being in Kanchanaburi.

Addressing Chronic Water Shortages

14.85 Billion Baht Initiative Benefits Thousands

This 14.85-billion-baht royal project targets Kanchanaburi’s long-standing water scarcity, benefiting at least 100,000 families in Lao Khwan district. Paetongtarn noted that the initiative cuts water costs for household and farming use, reflecting the government’s commitment to enhancing rural livelihoods through sustainable resource management in 2025.

Economic Support for Local Growth

Budget Allocates Funds for Water Projects

The prime minister highlighted that a significant portion of the economic stimulus budget has been earmarked for water supply enhancements, aiming to uplift residents’ quality of life over time. This strategic investment underscores Thailand’s focus on infrastructure development, promising long-term prosperity for Kanchanaburi’s communities.

Engaging with Local Feedback

Drought Solutions Explored at Nong Bua Hing

Paetongtarn and her team later visited the Ban Nong Bua Hing Project in Huai Krachao to gather public insights on groundwater management and drought challenges. She announced government approval for solar panel installations to tackle high electricity costs, demonstrating a holistic approach to addressing both water and energy needs in the region.
