Labour Minister Optimistic About Upcoming Wage Committee Meeting

Labour Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakan expressed confidence on Wednesday that the Tripartite National Wage Committee will approve the government’s proposal to raise the minimum wage to 400 baht per day during its meeting on December 12, 2024. He believes that this decision will be forwarded to the Cabinet for final approval on December 23, allowing the new wage to take effect in time for the New Year.

Phiphat stated, “I insist that Thais will enjoy a 400-baht minimum wage as a New Year gift,” highlighting discussions he has had with the permanent secretary regarding the timeline for implementation.
