Free Access on M6 Motorway to Alleviate Traffic Congestion

The Highways Department has announced that motorists will be allowed to use an 80-kilometer section of the Pak Chong-Nakhon Ratchasima motorway, also known as the M6 Motorway, free of charge during the long New Year holidays. This initiative aims to help travelers bypass heavy traffic in the heart of Nakhon Ratchasima.

Details of the Toll Waiver

Dates and Duration of the Free Access

The toll-free access will be available from December 28, 2024, to January 1, 2025, coinciding with a five-day break for many Thais. During this period, domestic travel is expected to surge as tourists and people return to their hometowns.

Route Information:

  • The M6 Motorway section runs from Tambon Nong Sarai in Pak Chong district to Muang district, providing a crucial gateway to the Northeast.

Restrictions and Recommendations for Motorists

Vehicle Limitations and Safety Measures

Only 4-wheel vehicles are permitted on the M6 Motorway, where a speed limit of 80 km/h is enforced. The department has emphasized that there is only one restroom stop open 24 hours along this stretch, located at KM147.Important Advisories:

  • Motorists are advised to prepare adequately, as there are no petrol stations, EV charging stations, food vendors, or car service centers available on this route.
  • Stopping or parking on the motorway is prohibited except in emergencies, with violators facing fines of up to 2,000 baht.

A Convenient Option for Holiday Travelers

By planning ahead and adhering to safety regulations, motorists can enjoy a smoother journey while celebrating the holiday season.
