Newcastle vs Everton ended 0-1 at St James' Park on Monday night, November 2, as Thierno Barry scored the only goal early in the second half and Everton climbed to seventh in the Premier League, BBC Sport reported. For fans in Thailand, the match kicked off at 3am on Tuesday.

How Barry won it

The decisive moment came in the 49th minute. Tyrique George was allowed to run into the box unmarked, and his low shot squeezed under Newcastle goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek before Barry tapped in from a few yards out.

It was Barry's eighth goal in 12 games in all competitions this season, and his second against Newcastle in five days after he also scored in Everton's 3-1 Carabao Cup win on Thursday. Everton managed it without Jack Grealish, who was left out of the squad for fitness reasons.

Ramsey red card adds to Newcastle's pain

Newcastle midfielder Jacob Ramsey was sent off in the 98th minute, booked a second time just 84 seconds after his first yellow card, for catching Harrison Armstrong above the ankle. He will miss Saturday's trip to Fulham.

Key numbers from the match

  • Final score: Newcastle United 0-1 Everton (half-time 0-0).
  • Attendance: 52,279.
  • Newcastle have lost four of their past five games in all competitions.
  • They have won only one of five league matches at home this season and have yet to keep a home clean sheet.
  • Everton move up to seventh; Newcastle stay 13th, four points above the bottom three.

Fans turn on the team

BBC Sport noted that pockets of Newcastle supporters booed the team at half-time and full-time. The home side were poor going forward for the first hour and only pushed hard for an equaliser late on.

What comes next

Newcastle travel to Fulham on Saturday, November 7, at 15:00 GMT, which is 10pm Thailand time. Everton will look to build on a run that has lifted them into the top half.
