A shocking incident in Phuket has prompted police to launch a manhunt for an Indian national accused of assaulting a Thai transwoman and stealing 10,000 baht in cash from her rented room on October 13.
Victim Shares Her Ordeal on Social Media
The Thai transwoman took to social media to share her harrowing experience, aiming to warn others and help authorities track down the suspect. Her story quickly spread across local news platforms, drawing public concern and calls for justice.
In an interview with the Phuket Times Facebook page, the victim explained that she had first met the Indian man through a dating application. After chatting online, the two arranged to meet in person on Bangla Road, one of Phuket’s busiest nightlife areas.
Dispute Turns Violent After Money Refusal
The victim revealed that she had agreed to provide sexual services for a fee of 1,000 baht. However, after their encounter, the Indian man demanded a refund. When she refused, he became aggressive and searched through her belongings, stealing 10,000 baht in cash from her bag.
Assault and Escape on Bangla Road
According to the victim, she tried to get her money back, but the man punched her repeatedly, dragged her out of the room, and continued the attack even as she cried for help. No one intervened despite her screams.
The suspect then pulled her back inside and continued the assault in the bathroom. After the attack, he fled the room. The victim, wearing only underwear, chased after him but stopped in fear for her safety. She later spotted him walking along Bangla Road before he disappeared.
Police Launch Investigation to Track the Suspect
The victim sought medical treatment at a nearby hospital and later filed a formal complaint with the Bangla Police Station, submitting her medical records as evidence.
Phuket police have launched a full investigation to identify and locate the Indian suspect. Authorities are also examining reports that he may have previously targeted other victims using dating apps to set up similar encounters leading to robbery and assault.
