Temperature Forecast: Sharp Declines Ahead

Thailand is bracing for a significant drop in temperatures starting this Friday, January 11, 2025, due to the arrival of a high-pressure system from China. The Thai Meteorological Department has issued warnings that temperatures will decrease sharply across most regions of the country.

Anticipated Temperature Changes

According to Sukanyanee Yawinchan, director-general of the meteorological department, temperatures are expected to fall by 5-7°C in the North and Northeast, and by 2-5°C in the Central Plains, including Bangkok, as well as the East and upper South. This drop is forecasted to last until Monday, January 15.

Impact of Strong Winds

During this period, strong winds are anticipated in the affected regions. Residents are advised to dress warmly and exercise caution with fire hazards due to dry conditions exacerbated by the winds.

Weather Conditions in Southern Thailand

In contrast, the northeasterly monsoon will strengthen in the Gulf of Thailand and the South during this timeframe. As a result, increased rainfall is expected in southern regions, with some areas experiencing heavy downpours. Waves in the Gulf of Thailand could reach heights of 2-4 meters, while waves in the Andaman Sea may reach 1-2 meters. Authorities recommend that small boats remain ashore from Friday through Monday for safety.

Prepare for Cold Weather

As Thailand prepares for these significant weather changes, it is essential for residents and visitors to stay informed and take necessary precautions. The expected temperature drops and increased winds highlight the importance of safety during this cold spell. Stay warm and safe as you navigate these chilly conditions!
