A fight broke out at a construction site in Patong yesterday morning (September 6), leaving two electricians hospitalized with machete injuries.
Patong police responded to a construction site run by Chinnatchi Co. Ltd., near the intersection of Phra Metta Road and Rajabhat Anusorn Road, at 10.40am.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found three Thai men working as ceiling installers standing outside the construction site.
Workers said the dispute involved a group of eight electricians who were contracted to do electrical work.
Tensions reportedly escalated between two groups working in adjacent rooms on the fourth floor of the building. A verbal argument ensued and quickly escalated into a fistfight. A machete was used in the ensuing melee.
Two electricians were injured and taken to Patong Hospital by passersby.
The remaining six electricians fled before police arrived, and the ceiling workers were taken to Patong Police Station for questioning.
Last reports indicate that police were working with the contractor to find the six electricians who fled the scene. Investigations are ongoing.
