Major Hiring Surge Underway

Strengthening Thailand’s Aviation Hub

VietJet Aviation, Vietnam’s leading budget airline, announced on August 6, 2025, plans to hire over 5,000 new staff in Thailand to support its ambitious expansion of flight routes across Southeast Asia’s top travel destination. The recruitment drive, targeting roles like pilots, cabin crew, engineers, technicians, and ground staff, aims to bolster VietJet Thailand’s workforce, currently at 1,300 employees. This move aligns with Thailand’s push to become a regional aviation powerhouse, fueled by growing tourism and infrastructure upgrades.

New Routes to Asian Cities

Connecting Bangkok to Key Markets

VietJet Thailand is set to launch new direct flights from Bangkok to major Asian destinations, including Seoul starting October 1, Osaka on December 1, Tokyo Narita on December 15, Kolkata on November 16, and Ahmedabad on December 4. These routes tap into the rising demand for travel to Japan, South Korea, and India, positioning VietJet to compete with regional players like Thai Airways and AirAsia. The expansion reflects Thailand’s strategic efforts to enhance connectivity and capture a larger share of the booming Asian travel market.

Financial Recovery and Growth

Strong Performance Fuels Expansion

VietJet Thailand reported a net income of 64 million baht in 2024, a significant turnaround from a 3.6 billion baht loss the previous year, with revenue soaring 45% to 19 billion baht. This financial recovery supports the airline’s aggressive growth strategy, including fleet expansion and new route launches. A recent London court ruling rejecting an attempt to freeze VietJet’s global assets over unpaid fees further clears the path for its operational scaling, ensuring stability for its Thai operations.

Infrastructure Supports Ambitions

Upgrades at Key Airports

Thailand’s government is enhancing passenger capacity at major airports like Suvarnabhumi in Bangkok, as well as Phuket and Chiang Mai, to attract more airlines and travelers. VietJet’s expansion aligns with these developments, positioning the airline to benefit from improved infrastructure and increased tourism. By investing in staff and routes, VietJet Thailand aims to solidify its role as a key player in Southeast Asia’s aviation sector, contributing to economic growth and regional connectivity in 2025 and beyond.
