In 2024, Thailand surpassed its target of 35 million foreign visitors, generating over €47.4 billion and contributing approximately 15% to the country’s GDP. This success has set the stage for even more ambitious goals in 2025.

Aiming for 39 Million International Visitors
The government has set its sights on attracting 39 million international visitors in 2025, with a projected revenue of €98 billion. European visitors are expected to play a significant role, with an estimated 10.6 million arrivals contributing €24.2 billion to the economy.

Enhancing Visitor Experience and Infrastructure
To achieve these goals, the government has implemented a five-point strategy:
- Improving visa procedures and expanding visa exemptions to 93 countries and territories
- Developing infrastructure to establish Thailand as Southeast Asia’s aviation hub
- Promoting soft power industries
- Positioning Thailand as a medical and wellness tourism destination
- Advancing sustainable tourism practices
Infrastructure Development for Increased Capacity
Expanding Aviation Capabilities
The government plans to enhance Thailand’s aviation infrastructure, aiming to accommodate 250 million passengers annually. This includes expanding major airports like Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang, upgrading regional airports, and constructing new facilities such as the Andaman and Lanna airports.
