Ruud van Nistelrooy’s recent return to Manchester United has taken an exciting turn as he steps up as caretaker manager following the departure of Erik ten Hag. After leading United to a triumphant 5-2 win over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup, van Nistelrooy shared that he’s open to staying on as interim manager until Ruben Amorim’s anticipated move from Sporting is finalized.

The 48-year-old, who joined as an assistant over the summer, is reportedly eager to support the club through this transitional phase. United fans and the board alike see potential in his leadership, and with a promising debut win, van Nistelrooy’s enthusiasm for the role is evident. When asked if he would remain until the club finds a permanent manager, he stated, “I’m here to help as long as needed. This club’s future and success are my priorities.”

United has agreed to terms with Ruben Amorim, Sporting’s 39-year-old head coach, although his arrival may be delayed due to contractual obligations in Portugal. If this pushes the transition to mid-November, van Nistelrooy could remain at the helm for several more games, a prospect he welcomes given his strong start.

Van Nistelrooy is also open to joining Amorim’s staff once the coaching transition completes, saying, “I’m here to serve and give my all for the club in any capacity, working alongside those who share this vision.” This commitment shows his dedication to Manchester United’s future.

As United prepares for an official managerial change, van Nistelrooy’s role may signal a seamless transition in leadership, providing stability and experience at Old Trafford.
