PHUKET POLICE ARREST COUPLE AFTER MILLION BAHT ELECTRONICS HEIST

A man and woman wanted for theft in the central province of Phetchaburi have been arrested in Phuket.

The suspects are accused of stealing over a million baht worth of electronic devices, which they would then sell in Phuket. It’s alleged they stole more than 40 mobile phones and tablets.

According to a Phuket Express report, the Region 8 Police were alerted by police in Phetchaburi that the pair were suspected of having fled to Phuket. Arrest warrants were issued by Phetchaburi Provincial Court and the pair were apprehended at a mobile phone shop in Tesco Lotus in the sub-district of Rassada.

They have been named as 26 year old Ms Manlika Chumraksa from the western province of Prachuap Khiri Khan and 27 year old Mr. Are Ree Phattharachockchai from Ratchaburi province, in central Thailand.

Ms Manlika is accused of stealing mobile phones and tablets in Phetchaburi, 45 of which she sold to phone shops in Phuket. It’s understood in total, she sold over a million baht worth of stolen devices.

It’s understood she has admitted to the charges, telling officers that she needed the money to pay off debts. Both suspects are being transferred to Phetchaburi to face prosecution.
