A 22-year-old tourist from the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed Alsuwaidi, was fined 5,000 baht for illegally driving a rented Jeep on Layi Beach in Phuket’s Kathu district. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, June 14, 2025, drew attention after the vehicle became stuck in the sand.

Pol Col Anurak Parinyasathirakul, Kamala police chief, confirmed the fine was imposed for violating public space regulations. Driving on beaches is prohibited in Phuket to protect natural areas and ensure visitor safety, highlighting the enforcement of local laws for tourists.
