Phuket Heavy Rain Warning: Flood Risk Ahead on Nov 7-9
Phuket heavy rain warning: the Thai Meteorological Department expects heavy to very heavy rain in the South on November 7-9, with flash flood risks.

A Phuket heavy rain warning is in place for the coming week: the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) says southern Thailand should prepare for scattered heavy rain and isolated very heavy downpours from November 7 to 9, 2026, with a risk of flash floods, overflowing waterways and landslides. Rain already caused road flooding in parts of Phuket on Monday evening.
What the TMD advisory says
The department published Weather Advisory No. 2 (285/2026) on November 2. It says more rain is forecast across the South between November 7 and 9. People living near foothills, waterways and low-lying areas are told to watch for water building up quickly.
According to the advisory, a new high-pressure system from China is extending over upper Thailand and the South China Sea. That is strengthening the easterly wind over Thailand and the Gulf. Waves in both the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand could top two metres in thunderstorms, and the TMD has told all vessels to proceed with caution and keep clear of storm cells.
Local news site Rawai.com reported that Phuket is among 10 provinces flagged as at risk, alongside Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Yala, Ranong, Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang and Satun.
Forecast for Phuket and the Andaman coast
The TMD's seven-day outlook for the southern west coast, which covers Phuket, calls for:
- November 2-4: scattered thundershowers.
- November 5-8: scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy rain.
- Winds and sea: easterly winds at 15-30 km/h, with waves of about one metre near shore and above two metres in thunderstorms.
- Temperatures: lows of 23-27°C and highs of 31-36°C.
Roads already flooded on Monday
The new warning follows a wet end to October. In its weekly summary, the TMD said flooding was reported in Phuket between October 26 and 30, and that a landslide hit the province on October 27.
The weather turned again on Monday, November 2. Rawai.com, citing Khaosod, reported thunder, strong wind and long spells of heavy rain across Mueang Phuket, Kathu and Thalang at around 5:30pm. Water collected on Pracha Uthit 1 Road in Ratsada and on Siriraj Road near Simon Cabaret in Patong. Runoff from Khao 50 Pi also poured onto Nanai Road in Patong, making it hard to get through.
Safety tips for residents and tourists
Island travel usually picks up in November, so visitors should keep an eye on the forecast. For more on what to expect this month, see our guide to Phuket weather in November. Practical steps include:
- Never drive or ride a motorbike through fast-flowing water.
- Stay away from hillsides and streams during long downpours, because they carry a landslide risk.
- Check with boat operators before island trips, as rough seas can cancel tours at short notice.
- Follow TMD updates or call the department's hotline on 1182.
Southern provinces have faced similar alerts in recent seasons. Past examples include warnings for 13 provinces and for floods and landslides across 17 provinces. Check for the TMD's latest updates to the advisory before you travel.
