Buriram United win a first Thai League 1 match under new coach Raúl Caneda after coming from behind the clock to beat Ratchaburi 2-1 on Sunday, 8 November, with Sebastian Moyano scoring in the fifth minute of added time.

Khaosod reported that the visitors went ahead in the 16th minute through Pansa Hemviboon, who headed home his first goal of the season. Sporting News said the chance came from a curling corner by Theerathon Bunmathan. Ratchaburi equalised in the 79th minute through Njiva Rakotoharimalala, before Moyano’s late finish completed the Buriram United win at Dragon Solar Park.

The fixture had been billed as Caneda’s league debut. Our earlier preview of how Buriram United face Ratchaburi set out the 19:00 kick-off, the AIS PLAY and MONOMAX broadcast and the pressure on a coach who had yet to win since taking over. Sunday’s result answers that first question: the new era now has a league victory.

How the Buriram United win was built

Buriram arrived on a difficult run. Sporting News noted that the team had lost 2-3 at home to Sisaket in its previous league match, dropping from the top of the table, and had drawn 0-0 with Kashima Antlers in the AFC Champions League Elite — Caneda’s first official game, which we covered as a Buriram United draw with Kashima. That left the club without a win in three matches in all competitions heading into the trip.

Pansa’s header changed the mood in the 16th minute. Ratchaburi then spent long spells trying to find a way back. Sporting News said Buriram wanted a penalty in the 55th minute when the ball struck Daniel Ting’s arm, but the referee checked the video and refused it, judging that the arm was close to the body. In the 66th minute Njiva cut inside the box and bent a shot against the post. The equaliser finally arrived in the 79th minute, when the same forward found the net with his left foot after a spell of home pressure, Khaosod and Sporting News both reported.

The decisive moment came at 90+5. Khaosod said Guilherme Bissoli laid the ball on for Moyano, who lifted it over Ratchaburi goalkeeper Kampol Pathomakkakul. Sporting News described a combination between Moyano and Bissoli before the chip over the keeper. Either telling of the move ends the same way: a late away goal and a 2-1 scoreline.

What the table looks like after Sunday night

Khaosod said the two clubs went into the match level on 13 points. The Buriram United win lifts the visitors to 16 points and fifth place, while Ratchaburi stay on 13 points in sixth. Those positions can still move as the rest of the round is completed, but they show why a stoppage-time goal away to a direct rival matters. Ratchaburi had been second in the table after a 5-2 away win at Sisaket, Sporting News reported, and had taken Vissel Kobe to a 2-3 AFC Champions League Elite defeat in midweek.

Squad news also shaped the night. Sporting News said Buriram were without injured players including Supachai Jaided and Uros Radakovic. Ratchaburi were missing Jonathan Khemdee through a long-term injury and could not use Robert Sulj because of a loan restriction. Caneda still named a side that mixed familiar Thailand internationals, including Theerathon, with foreign attackers Bissoli and Stefan Schimmer, according to the Sporting News starting list.

Elsewhere on the same Sunday slate, BG Pathum United beat Rayong 3-0, continuing a domestic campaign we have already followed after that club’s BG Pathum United win over Tai Po in the AFC Champions League Two. The Buriram result, though, was the clearest headline of the evening because it paired a new coach’s first league points with a last-gasp finish.

  • Final score: Ratchaburi 1–2 Buriram United, Sunday 8 November 2026.
  • Scorers: Pansa Hemviboon 16’; Njiva Rakotoharimalala 79’; Sebastian Moyano 90+5.
  • Competition: BYD Sealion Six League One 2026/27, played at Ratchaburi Stadium (Dragon Solar Park).
  • Table after the match, per Khaosod: Buriram 16 points (5th); Ratchaburi 13 points (6th).
  • Context: Caneda’s first Thai League 1 victory, after a 0-0 ACL Elite draw with Kashima.

What Sunday changes for Caneda and the title race

A single away win does not rewrite a season. It does, however, end the short sequence of matches without a victory and gives Caneda something more useful than a draw on which to build. Buriram remain the reigning ASEAN Club Championship holders and still have a busy calendar, including continental football. For Ratchaburi, dropping two points at home after fighting back to 1-1 will sting, especially after the side had climbed as high as second earlier in the round of results.

Phuket Times did not have a reporter inside Dragon Solar Park. The score, scorers and the 90+5 timing come from Khaosod and Sporting News match reports published on Sunday evening. Where the two outlets describe the same goal in slightly different words, both agree on the identities of the scorers and on the 2-1 result. No further disciplinary details, such as red cards, were listed in those accounts.

For supporters who followed the pre-match preview, the story is now simple. Buriram United win on the road, Caneda has his first league success, and a header, a late equaliser and an even later chip supplied the entire scoreline.

The result was reported by Khaosod on 8 November, with additional match detail from Sporting News.
