Luis Enrique Unfazed by PSG’s Loss Ahead of Champions League Clash with Arsenal

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has dismissed concerns over his team’s form following their surprising 3-1 defeat to Nice on Friday, just days before their Champions League semi-final first leg against Arsenal.

Despite being crowned Ligue 1 champions earlier this month, PSG’s hopes of an unbeaten domestic season were dashed as Nice secured an impressive victory at the Parc des Princes. Morgan Sanson opened the scoring before Fabián Ruiz leveled for the hosts, but Sanson struck again, and Youssouf Ndayishimiye sealed the win late on.

PSG dominated possession and fired 32 shots on goal, but Nice goalkeeper Marcin Bulka delivered a heroic performance to keep the champions at bay. Despite the setback, Luis Enrique remains confident heading into Tuesday’s crucial clash with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

“First, I congratulate Nice—they were clinical,” the PSG boss said post-match. “We created 30 chances but faced an outstanding goalkeeper. I’m not worried at all. We attacked relentlessly and proved we’re the best team in France. Now, we must be brave and focus on winning the Champions League.”

He acknowledged his players’ frustration but emphasized that efficiency made the difference. “The team is upset because we deserved to win. But if the opponent converts every chance and you don’t, this happens. It’s football.”

When questioned about fielding a full-strength lineup ahead of the Arsenal tie, Enrique remained coy: “Draw your own conclusions. I won’t give Arteta any clues.”

With PSG shifting focus to Europe, Arsenal must prepare for a side eager to bounce back—and a manager who refuses to let one loss shake his confidence.
