DRUNK POLICE MAN STABS TWO WOMEN IN NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, KILLS ONE

A policeman has gone on the rampage in the southern province of Nakhon Si Thammarat, stabbing two women. One of the women has died.

The officer, named as 30 year old Chavanil Jindamaneemas, was arrested and fired immediately as a result of the attack. The Bangkok Post reports that he was experiencing mental health problems at the time.

Cha-uat police chief Somporn Nitipak says Chavanil had just been transferred from Phuket and was being treated for “tension”. He had been assigned to the role of backup driver at the station.

On the evening of Saturday, February 24, Chavanil drove his car into a pit. When a tow truck arrived to pull the car out, the driver of the truck overheard the policeman arguing with his mother over the phone.

When the driver told the policeman he shouldn’t speak to his mother the way he had, Chavanil reportedly flew into a rage and tried to stab him. However, the driver managed to get away.

The police officer then returned home, where it’s alleged that sometime later, he ran out of his flat and kicked over a passing motorbike carrying two women. He then proceeded to stab both women in the face, neck and back.

Police officers rushed from the station to intervene and arrested Chavanil, but not before he had fatally stabbed 51 year old Wijitra Rakkhanam and seriously injured 69 year old Prapha Yamyuean.

It’s understood both women lived in Songkhla province and were on their way to visit family members when they were attacked.

According to the report, Chavanil later tested positive for alcohol consumption.
