Seven Injured in Morning Crash

A devastating collision in Suphan Buri left seven people injured, including six students and a school truck driver, when a 10-wheeler truck slammed into an open-air school vehicle on Wednesday. The incident, occurring at Sam Chuk Intersection, has raised concerns about road safety in the area.

Details of the Collision

School Truck Hit During Turn

The crash took place around 7:30am when the school truck, a songthaew, paused at a red light before attempting a right turn toward Sam Chuk Rattanapokaram School. As the light turned green, the truck proceeded, only to be struck by a 10-wheeler running a red light.

Impact Throws Students from Vehicle

Forceful Crash Causes Chaos

The powerful impact ejected several students seated in the open back of the songthaew onto the road. The injured included the driver and six students—two boys and four girls—who were promptly transported to Sam Chuk Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Severe Injuries Reported

Critical Cases Transferred

Health officials reported that one female student and the driver sustained serious injuries, necessitating their transfer to Chaophraya Yommaraj Hospital. Both remain under intensive medical supervision, highlighting the severity of the collision’s consequences.

10-Wheeler Driver’s Account

Brake Failure Cited as Cause

The 10-wheeler’s driver, en route to Nakhon Sawan, claimed brake failure prevented him from stopping at the red light, leading to the crash, according to Pol Col Piyapong Wongketjai, Sam Chuk police chief. His statement is under scrutiny as part of the ongoing investigation.

Ongoing Police Investigation

Authorities Seek Clarity

Law enforcement continues to probe the incident, examining the driver’s claims and other factors contributing to the collision. The investigation aims to determine accountability and prevent future accidents at this busy Suphan Buri intersection, ensuring safer roads for all.
