China has pledged emergency humanitarian assistance of 1 billion yuan (approximately THB4.6 billion or $137 million) to aid Myanmar following the catastrophic earthquake that struck on March 28, 2025. The quake, with a magnitude of 7.7, is one of the strongest to hit Myanmar in a century, claiming 3,645 lives, destroying infrastructure, and leaving thousands without food, water, and shelter.

The Chinese embassy announced that the relief funds would be allocated to provide essential supplies such as food, medicines, and prefabricated homes. Reconstruction and Long-Term Support Plans
China’s Commitment to Disaster Assessment and Recovery
China has expressed its willingness to participate in assessing disaster-related losses and contributing to reconstruction efforts in Myanmar. The Chinese Red Cross has also provided financial assistance amounting to 1.5 million yuan (approximately $206,000) to further support relief operations.
