Enhanced Transport Services for Celebrations

In preparation for the 2025 New Year celebrations, the Ministry of Transport has announced extended public transport hours and free parking to facilitate travel for both tourists and residents in Bangkok. This initiative aims to promote safe travel, reduce traffic congestion, and encourage the use of public transportation during the festive period.

Commitment to Safe Travel

Surapong Piyachote, the deputy minister of transport, emphasized that all agencies are working diligently to ensure safe travel for the public during the New Year festivities. The extended hours are part of a broader strategy to accommodate the expected increase in visitors and participants at various countdown events across the city.

Extended Hours for Mass Transit Authority

BTS Skytrain and MRT Services

The Mass Transit Authority of Thailand is set to extend services for the BTS Skytrain and implement necessary safety measures to facilitate travel for those attending key events at popular locations such as ICONSIAM, One Bangkok, and CentralWorld.

  • Late-Night Operations: Notably, the MRT Purple Line and Blue Line will operate until 2 AM on January 1, with last trains departing at that time. This extension is designed to provide convenient access for late-night revelers celebrating the New Year.

Free Parking Initiatives

Encouraging Public Transport Use

In addition to extended transport hours, the MRT will waive parking fees at multiple facilities to further encourage the use of public transport.

  • Environmental Considerations: Various parking options are available across MRT lines, promoting environmentally friendly travel choices while managing the anticipated surge in passengers.

Managing Increased Passenger Volume

Safety and Security Measures

To handle the expected influx of travelers effectively, measures are being put in place to increase train services and enhance security protocols throughout the transport system.

  • Passenger Advisories: Passengers are encouraged to check official websites and social media pages of MRT operators for the latest information on service hours, parking availability, and safety measures.

A Smooth Start to the New Year

With extended public transport hours and free parking initiatives, Bangkok is gearing up for a vibrant New Year celebration. These measures not only facilitate safe travel but also promote public transportation as a convenient option for both locals and tourists. As the festivities approach, residents and visitors can look forward to a seamless experience welcoming in 2025.
