Sources inside the stadium reported to the Daily Mail that Cabral called Rudiger a “negro de mierda”—a highly offensive Spanish racial slur. However, the Pachuca defender denied the accusation, claiming he instead called Rudiger a “cagon de mierda” (meaning “f***ing coward”).

Following the incident, the referee activated FIFA’s anti-discrimination protocol, making the crossed-arms gesture to signal an investigation. Football’s governing body is now reviewing the incident, with potential disciplinary action pending.
