Chalong Police are currently investigating a serious complaint involving the alleged rape of a 19-year-old staff member at a day spa in Chalong by a well-known mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter who was training in Phuket. The incident, which reportedly took place on August 18, has led to a police investigation as authorities gather evidence to pursue legal action.

Details of the Incident
The complaint, received by Pol Lt Attha Liang, Deputy Inspector at Chalong Police Station, outlines a troubling sequence of events. According to the victim, who is a resident of Chalong, the incident occurred at the spa where she was working. On the afternoon of August 18, the MMA fighter, originally from Kyrgyzstan, entered the spa around 1 p.m. to use the sauna and ice bath services.

The young woman prepared the sauna and ice bath for the fighter and returned to her post at the counter. At approximately 5 p.m., the fighter informed her in English that he had finished using the facilities. As she went to turn off the sauna, the man followed her, kissed her without consent, and then led her into a bathroom where he allegedly sexually assaulted her. After the incident, the man used a translation app to tell the woman not to disclose what had happened before leaving the premises on his motorcycle.

Police Response and Investigation
Chalong Police Chief Pol Col Ekkarat Phlaiduang has confirmed that the case is under active investigation, but emphasized that many details must remain confidential at this stage. “A complaint has been filed, and an accusation has been made. The case is currently under investigation, with evidence being collected to proceed with a lawsuit in court,” Col Ekkarat told The Phuket News.

He also acknowledged the possibility that the victim may have delayed reporting the incident due to fear or shame, which is not uncommon in cases of sexual assault. “The victim may have felt too ashamed or frightened to report the rape to anyone, including her boss or coworkers,” he noted.

Ongoing Investigation
As the investigation continues, police are focused on gathering sufficient evidence to support the victim’s claims and ensure that justice is served. While the details remain confidential, the case highlights the challenges faced by victims of sexual assault in coming forward and the importance of thorough investigative processes to protect their rights.

Chalong Police are urging anyone with additional information related to the case to come forward, as the authorities work to ensure that all necessary evidence is collected for a potential court case.
