A Russian man in Phuket is accused of stalking, harassing, and threatening a Thai woman who rejected his romantic advances. The unsettling incident has raised public concern over the safety of women working in Phuket’s busy tourist zones.

Thai Woman Speaks Out About Harassment

The victim, who works at a café in Patong, shared her disturbing experience with the Phuket Times Facebook page on October 14, hoping to raise awareness and protect herself from further harm.

She explained that she had never encouraged the Russian man’s attention and wanted his unwanted behavior to stop immediately. Despite her efforts to distance herself, the man allegedly continued to pursue her aggressively.

From Beach Meeting to Persistent Stalking

According to the woman, she first met the Russian man on the beach, where they exchanged contact details and began chatting. She emphasized that she viewed him only as a friend, but he persisted in contacting her and showing up at her workplace.

When she refused to meet him or answer his calls, the man’s behavior reportedly escalated. He began making violent threats toward her and her coworkers, claiming he would damage the café if she continued to ignore him.

Threats and Intimidation at Her Workplace

The woman shared screenshots of threatening messages, including one where the man sent her a photo of a rock, warning that he would throw it through the café’s window if she did not meet him within 20 minutes.

He was also seen loitering outside the café, making both the victim and her colleagues feel unsafe.

Beyond physical threats, the Russian man allegedly tried to harm the café’s reputation by leaving a one-star review on Google Maps and encouraging others to post negative reviews. He even claimed to have connections with influential figures in Phuket, threatening to have the business shut down.

Fear and Uncertainty Over Police Involvement

Fearing for her safety, the woman turned to the media for help. It remains unclear whether she has filed a police report, but local residents and netizens are urging authorities to take swift action to prevent further incidents.

Similar Case Reported in Chiang Mai

In a separate case reported in July, a Thai transwoman in Chiang Mai was physically assaulted and raped by a man she had previously been intimate with after rejecting his subsequent advances. Despite being summoned, the suspect in that case failed to appear at the police station and later attempted to contact the victim to apologize and rekindle the relationship.

Growing Concerns Over Women’s Safety in Phuket

These incidents highlight growing concerns about harassment and violence against women in Thailand’s tourist areas. Police and local organizations are being urged to strengthen protection measures and ensure justice for victims of stalking and abuse.
