Free Parking at Four Major Airports

Convenience for Songkran Travelers

Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT) is offering free parking at four major airports—Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, and Phuket—from 00:01 AM on April 12 to midnight on April 16. This initiative coincides with the Songkran festival, a peak travel period in Thailand.

Anticipated Passenger Surge

The Transport Ministry forecasts over 3 million air travelers during the holiday, marking a 20% increase from last year. Of these, 1.86 million will be international passengers, while 1.14 million will be domestic travelers.

Efficient Management Plans

AoT has implemented management strategies across its six airports—Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai, Phuket, and Hat Yai—to ensure smooth operations. Airlines have been instructed to open additional check-in counters and deploy adequate staff.

Passenger Safety and Comfort

Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit has directed all transport agencies to prioritize passenger safety and convenience. Measures include increased cleaning schedules, sufficient luggage carts, and streamlined immigration processes.

Songkran Travel Statistics

Flight Volume Growth

During the Songkran period from April 11-17, AoT expects to handle 18,030 flights—10,442 international and 7,588 domestic—a 20.7% increase compared to last year.

Cultural Activities for Travelers

To celebrate Songkran, AoT is organizing cultural activities at airports, such as photo booths, Thai food demonstrations, and traditional performances.

Early Arrival and Biometric Registration

Passengers are advised to arrive two to three hours before departure and use self-check-in machines or biometric systems for smoother travel.
