Island Trio Attracts Record Visitors

Koh Chang, Koh Kood, and Koh Mak Experience Surge

Trat province’s three main islands have witnessed a significant increase in tourist numbers since December 2024, continuing through the New Year 2025 period. This growth in both Thai and international visitors showcases the province’s successful efforts in promoting sustainable tourism.

Extended Stays and Increased Bookings

Foreign Tourists Opt for Longer Vacations

International tourists are now booking extended stays of 1-2 weeks, with foreign visitor numbers increasing by more than 40% compared to 2024. This surge is attributed to promotional efforts across multiple channels, particularly ongoing campaigns by the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Eastern Region and Trat offices since 2024.

Koh Chang Leads the Way

Hotel Bookings Exceed 80% for Songkran

Hotel bookings for the upcoming Songkran period in Koh Chang district have already surpassed 80%, with a notable increase in international tourists. Foreign visitors have established online groups showcasing Trat’s attractions, highlighting the beauty of both the sea and forest areas in Koh Chang National Park.

Mainland Trat Sees Growth

Consistent Hotel Bookings and Increased Appeal

Mainland Trat has also experienced consistent hotel bookings, showing improvement compared to previous years. This growth is attributed to joint efforts by private and public tourism sectors to enhance the province’s attractiveness to visitors.

Impressive Tourism Statistics

Projected Growth for Songkran 2025

For the April 2025 Songkran festival period, Trat’s tourism office projects impressive visitor numbers:

  • Total visitors: 19,980
  • Tourists with overnight stays: 19,200
  • Average occupancy rate: 82.09%
  • Revenue generation: 142-200 million baht

Extended Celebrations

Songkran Activities Span Two Weeks

Various districts in Trat are hosting Songkran activities from April 12-26, 2025, with the final “Wan Lai” celebrations scheduled for April 25-26 in Laem Ngop district. These extended festivities are expected to draw large crowds and further boost tourism in the region.
