Thailand Hosts the Inaugural Council Meeting
On January 11, 2025, Thailand is preparing to host the first Saudi-Thai Coordination Council at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). This significant event will be co-chaired by Thai Foreign Affairs Minister Maris Sangiampongsa and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. The newly established Saudi-Thai Coordination Council is designed to facilitate collaboration across various sectors. It comprises five specialized committees focusing on politics and consular affairs, security and military, economics and trade, investment, and culture and tourism. According to ministry spokesperson Nikorndej Balankura, these committees have recently agreed on 78 initiative cards that will be presented during the upcoming meeting, showcasing their commitment to advancing mutual interests.

The groundwork for this council was laid following the restoration of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Thailand in 2022.
