THAILAND TO EXPERIENCE RECORD TEMPERATURES IN COMING WEEKS

The kingdom will face unprecedented temperatures this month, according to data from the Thai Meteorological Department. The TMD has issued an alert for extreme heat across Thailand, with the possibility that temperatures could reach up to 43 – 44.5° Celsius.

The worst of the heat will be in the north and northeast of the country, where temperatures of 43 to 44.5° Celsius are expected between April 7 and 14.

“Prevailing low pressure, coupled with a lack of rainfall, is being blamed for the extreme temperatures.”

There will however, be several summer storms, including possible hailstorms, from April 8 to 10, caused by the incoming cold front from upper Vietnam. The South may also experience some summer storms, but these are not expected to negatively impact tourism activities, instead offering a temporary reprieve from the heat.

Despite the eagerly-anticipated summer storms, in general, average temperatures will be around 30% higher than normal throughout the month of April. This will particularly be the case for the North, Northeast, and the upper areas of Central Thailand and the East.
