Thailand’s orchid exports reach more than 20 countries across all continents, solidifying its position as the top global exporter. The country leads the world in orchid exports with 35,250 shipments, followed by the Netherlands with 25,422 shipments, and Vietnam with 22,077 shipments. Key markets for Thai orchids include Vietnam, India, Russia, and increasingly distant locations such as the United States, Italy, and Brazil.

Diverse Orchid Varieties and Production Areas

Dendrobium Leads in Export Volume

Dendrobium remains the orchid species with the highest export volume from Thailand, followed by Oncidium Mokara, Vanda, Aranda, and others. The production of these exquisite flowers is concentrated around Bangkok and nearby provinces, where optimal climate conditions and adequate infrastructure support the industry. Two harvest peaks typically occur annually, in June and October.

Orchids currently constitute 73% of total Thai flower exports, with orchid plants making up 27% of that segment, contributing approximately $70 million per year to the country’s economy.
